"Jupiter" getting an addition

Team Afro build assistant Morgen , having found a snorkel for the Afro Mobile , could not wait to get it on .
After working out and making a template , Moo  set to installing the addition.

As with all EsCarpade mods on cars , there where a few hiccups and always a few laughs.

Still gettin' out there - 2014 Hot Rod Show - RNA - May No

Graham from Car 1729 had secured a fundraising opportunity at the Hot Rod and Street Machine show at RNA showground to raise funds and awareness for Camp Quality, only one problem with the timing ... Graham's EsCarapade vehicle isn't yet ready. Oh well , that's what Team QLD is all about - helping each other out.

So Team Afro and Car 808 - yes the new 808 helped fill the space.

Darren 'showing off' the might that is AFRO's motor.. not quite as shiny and impressive as some of the other cars on display.

NOw here is a 'face' that is becoming more and more visible as EsCarpade draws closer. Keep an eye on social media, news programs and outside football stadiums - he's bound to be there.

Here's Daz modelling the 2014 "Lime Spider" EsCarpade shirt. There are a few teams that are very happy with the colour choice - you know what I mean?

Know anything about this Daz?

The new PPE car , she will just make the age for EsCarpade - 20 in September.

Giggle came along for a look too.

Mascots galore , though Bender always has to be in front .

On behalf of team Bender thanks to everyone that supported this event and venture.

Time to thank ours sponsors.

Without the generous support of local business and individuals and of course this year Logan Village Charity Committee's CarNival we couldn't raise the much needed funds for Camp Quality.

It can be hard work , finding a car , getting it ready to pass scrutineering, raising the minimum donation of $5,000 (though most teams raise much much more - one team last year raised $222,000 ) and staying on life's track of work , family and 'down time', but to us it is so worth it.
To know that all the money we raise stays here in Queensland to help kids living with cancer and their families makes the hard work, the knock backs easier to take.

When fund raising I have learnt - ask the little guy. Some of our small local business supporters offer what they perceive as a small donation - but hey $500 or even $200 is more than some big companies can offer , mainly due to size and management structures.
We are very lucky to have built up a solid base of sponsors , who have supported us , either by financial donations or by donating prizes or services to keep us on the road.

A massive thanks to all the business and supporters below who have made TEAM AFRO a success - you are all apart of the team.

and all their sponsors and supporters.

So whats TEAM AFRO been up to in 2014?

2014 has started off as a great year for TEAM AFRO or as we now known , FIREMAN SAM .
Our fundraising received a massive boost mid way through 2013  , with an offer from the Logan Village Charity Committee for Team Afro & Car 808 - the purple people eaters to be the beneficiaries of their 2nd annual CarNival.
The event originally planned for 25th November unfortunately was postponed due to a severe thunderstorm the afternoon before hand.
But waiting a few months , helped both the committee and the EsCarpade teams to promote the event.
With the new date set as 6th April - couldn't  have asked for a better day , both weather wise and  crowd wise.

Here's the crew from Logan Village CarNival and Darren & Laurie from TEAM AFRO along with Tony from Car 808.

The event, along with presponsorship raised over $26,000 for Camp Quality.... so a massive
THANKS
goes out the community of Logan Village for their hard work and support.
